On 10 June 2016, 120 young leaders, aged 30 years and below, from the different regions of the world gathered at the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland to raise their voices in regards to different human rights issues and to develop a series of recommendations to be presented in the 32nd session of the Human Rights Council (HRC). This was certainly an historic event, as it was the first time that youth got to formally convene for the HRC and have access to a platform that allowed them to discuss key human rights issues of importance to their lives. Additionally, as the HRC is one of the most important international mechanisms for promoting and protecting human rights from all over the globe, participants developed the youth forum formal declaration that will be presented during the HRC to UN Member States.
